Valerenga Fotball

Vålerenga Fotball is one of Norway’s biggest clubs and is a club for everyone, regardless of sex, religion, colour, or sexual orientation. Both our men and women team plays in the highest league and we have a huge department of young players from 6-18 years old. We are also one of the largest football clubs in Oslo when it comes to grass-roots football. We have approximately 80 teams, and 1000 active players, with backgrounds from more than 74 nationalities. Vålerenga also has the biggest community programme run by any sports club in Norway.

The community programmes are divided into three main targets: Integration, Inclusion and work training. Vålerenga Against Racism offers children, adolescents, and adults, free physical activities, because we know that sport integrates, and Vålerenga Football Club wishes to promote positive behaviour. Our Job Opportunity Program gives valuable job-training for people that, for various reasons, find themselves currently unemployed and the purpose of the Integration Project is to be preeminent in alleviating problems concerning poverty and integration.

Walking Football at Valerenga Fotball

Vålerenga Fotball started the Valerenga Legends walking football project in May 2016. The project is part of the EFDN European Legends programme and aims to promote a new sport based methodology to get people of 50 years and older physical active again. Currently, Vålerenga is the only club in Norway, which has a Walking Football Team.
The Walking Football and Walking Sport methodology is the biggest innovative aspect of the European Legends project. Walking Football is a variation of football in which players may not run. It`s not allowed to make sliding’s, make physical contact and play the ball above waist. All this to prevent injuries. The walking football project in Vålerenga football is for elderly people one time a week (2 hours).
Vålerenga started the programme with 8 members but quickly increased to 20 team members who enjoy the weekly training and social gathering.

Since the start of the European Legends programme, the Valerenga “Go Team” organised tournaments to broaden the reach of the Walking Football methodology in Norway.
